1. INTRODUCTION

Techsnap Agentic AI Private Limited, referred to as "Techsnap," "we," "us," or "our," is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of all users, including students, parents, educators, universities, partners, and visitors to our platform and mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains in detail how we collect, use, store, share, secure, and process personal data when you use our services through our website at techsnap.in, our Progressive Web App (PWA), our Android application available on the Google Play Store, or any related services. It also describes your rights and choices regarding your information. By using Techsnap services, installing our application, creating an account, or accessing our platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the processing of your personal information as described herein. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, you should stop using our services and uninstall the application.

2. OUR ROLE AS AN EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM

Techsnap provides an AI-guided education technology platform that works closely with universities, colleges, educational institutions, departments, and training partners across India. Through these partnerships we support learning, skill assessments, testing, certifications, academic analytics, mentoring, placement preparation, and related services for students primarily at Tier 2 and Tier 3 institutions. In some cases, we receive student data directly from educational institutions under lawful agreements. In other cases, students create accounts individually on our platform. In every situation, we handle student data responsibly, securely, and strictly for educational purposes only. We do not sell personal data. We do not use personal data for advertising profiling. We do not share student records with unrelated third parties.

3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information in three primary ways: 3.1 Information You Provide Directly When you register and use Techsnap, you may provide us with:

  • Full name, email address, and mobile number
  • Profile photograph (uploaded voluntarily or captured via camera)
  • Educational institution name, course, branch, and year of study
  • Skills, interests, and career goals entered on your profile
  • Assessment responses, test submissions, and coding solutions
  • Communications you send to our support team

3.2 Information Collected Automatically When you use our platform, we automatically collect:

  • Device identifiers (Android ID, device model, OS version)
  • IP address and network type
  • Browser or app version
  • Session timestamps and feature usage patterns
  • Crash logs and diagnostic data
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device push token for notifications

3.3 Information From Institutions When universities or institutions partner with Techsnap, they may share student enrollment data, department information, and academic identifiers with us under formal agreements or Memoranda of Understanding. Such data is used solely for delivering the services requested by the institution.

4. DEVICE PERMISSIONS - CAMERA, LOCATION, AND NOTIFICATIONS

This section specifically discloses how our Android application uses device permissions. We request only the permissions necessary to deliver our services, and we never use permissions for purposes beyond those stated below.

4.1 Camera Permission Android permission: android.permission.CAMERA Why we request it: We request access to your device camera for the following purposes only:

  • To allow you to capture or upload a profile photograph
  • To scan or photograph documents or certificates for verification purposes during assessments or placement workflows (where applicable)
  • To support identity verification or proctoring features during online assessments (where applicable and disclosed at the time of the assessment)

How we use it:

  • Camera access is activated only when you explicitly initiate a camera-related action within the app. We do not access the camera passively, silently, or in the background.
  • We do not record continuous video or audio through the camera without your explicit knowledge and consent.
  • Images or video captured through the camera during proctoring sessions may be stored temporarily to ensure assessment integrity and are deleted within 30 days of the assessment conclusion unless a longer retention period is required for dispute resolution.
  • Profile photographs you upload are stored on our servers and displayed on your Techsnap profile.
  • Camera captures are not shared with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties. They may be shared with your affiliated institution under confidentiality agreements solely for assessment integrity purposes.

Your control: You may revoke camera permission at any time by going to your Android device Settings > Apps > Techsnap > Permissions > Camera. Revoking camera access will disable camera-related features but will not affect other functionality of the application.

4.2 Location Permission Android permissions: android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION (approximate location) Why we request it: We collect approximate device location for the following purposes:

  • To identify your nearest affiliated educational institution and personalise your learning experience accordingly
  • To enable location-based attendance or check-in features where offered by your institution
  • To detect the general region for content personalisation, language preferences, and locally relevant placement opportunities

How we use it:

  • We collect approximate location only (city or district level via network/Wi-Fi signals), not precise GPS coordinates, unless a specific feature such as attendance explicitly requires and requests precise location, in which case you will be separately informed.
  • Location is collected only while the app is actively in use in the foreground. We do not collect location data in the background when the app is not in use.
  • Location data is not used for advertising targeting, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties other than our hosting infrastructure under confidentiality obligations.
  • Location data derived from IP address (for general region detection) is handled separately from device GPS or network location and is used solely for service delivery.
  • Approximate location data is retained for the duration of your active session and is not stored long-term unless tied to an attendance record or a specific feature that requires it.

Your control: You may revoke location permission at any time by going to your Android device Settings > Apps > Techsnap > Permissions > Location. Revoking location access will disable location-dependent features such as institution detection and attendance, but will not affect other functionality.

4.3 Notification Permission Android permission: android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS (required on Android 13 and above) Why we request it: With your permission, we send push notifications for:

  • Assessment reminders and upcoming test alerts
  • Skill milestone achievements and progress updates
  • Placement and recruitment opportunity alerts relevant to your profile
  • Account security events such as login alerts or password changes
  • Platform announcements and policy updates
  • Academic deadlines and institution-specific communications

How we use it:

  • Notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a service provided by Google LLC. To deliver notifications, your device is assigned a unique FCM push token, which is a device-level identifier.
  • This FCM token is used solely for the purpose of delivering notifications to your device. It is not shared with advertising networks, data brokers, or third parties for marketing purposes.
  • The FCM token is stored on our servers and associated with your account. It is deleted when you delete your account or uninstall the application.
  • We do not send promotional or marketing notifications without your separate consent. You may opt out of marketing notifications at any time through the app settings.
  • Transactional and security notifications (such as OTPs, login alerts, and assessment start reminders) cannot be turned off because they are essential to service security and delivery.

Your control: You may revoke notification permission at any time by going to your Android device Settings > Apps > Techsnap > Notifications, or from within the app under Settings > Notification Preferences. Revoking notification access means you will not receive push alerts, but the app will continue to function normally.

5. INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM UNIVERSITIES AND INSTITUTIONS

When universities or institutions partner with Techsnap, they may provide us with student data including names, enrollment numbers, email addresses, course and branch details, and academic performance indicators. This data is shared under formal Data Processing Agreements or Memoranda of Understanding. Such institutionally provided data is used exclusively for:

  • Delivering assessment, analytics, and certification services to the institution
  • Generating skill dashboards and reports for faculty and placement officers
  • Enabling placement readiness tracking for students affiliated with the institution

We do not use institutionally provided student data for any purpose outside the scope of the institution's agreement with us. Students whose data is provided by an institution may contact us at grievance@techsnap.in to understand what data is held and to exercise their rights.

8. CONSENT-FIRST APPROACH

Techsnap processes personal information only when you have provided consent or when another lawful ground under applicable law exists, such as legitimate interest, legal obligation, or contractual necessity. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent may limit access to certain features but does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal. We do not use deceptive consent mechanisms, dark patterns, or pre-ticked consent boxes. We do not bundle consent for unnecessary data collection with consent for core service delivery.

9. STUDENT AND MINOR PRIVACY

Techsnap may be used by students who are minors, particularly students who are 16 years of age or older enrolled in Indian colleges and universities. When required by applicable law, parental or institutional authorisation is obtained before processing personal information of minors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13 without consent, we will delete that data promptly. We do not commercially profile minors. We do not use data belonging to minors for advertising. Proctoring features involving camera use during assessments, where used for minor students, are conducted under institutional authorisation and disclosed to students prior to the assessment.

11. INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED

When you use our services, we automatically collect data including device model, operating system version, browser or app version, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, access timestamps, feature interaction logs, crash reports, and performance diagnostics. This information is used to maintain platform security, detect fraud, debug issues, optimise performance, and understand how users interact with our features. It is not used to build advertising profiles. IP-derived location is used only for general region detection and service personalisation. It is distinct from device GPS or network location collected via the location permission described in Section 4.2.

12. SHARING OF INFORMATION

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your affiliated institution: Academic performance, skill assessments, and progress data may be shared with your university or college under their agreement with Techsnap.

  • With professional advisors: Auditors, legal counsel, or compliance consultants may access data under strict confidentiality as necessary.
  • In a business transfer: If Techsnap is acquired or merged, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users in advance where legally required.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share data with advertising networks, data brokers, or unrelated commercial third parties.

13. PAYMENT AND SUBSCRIPTION DATA

Techsnap offers subscription plans for students and institutional clients. Payment transactions are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, a licensed payment aggregator regulated under applicable Indian law. We do not store full payment card numbers, CVV codes, or banking credentials on our servers. Razorpay processes and stores payment credentials under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance framework. We retain transaction records including subscription plan, payment amount, transaction ID, and timestamp for the purposes of billing, reconciliation, legal compliance, and tax obligations. These records are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required under Indian tax law. Subscription upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations are managed within the app and processed through Razorpay. Refund policies are governed by our Terms of Service.
